Mini Facelift |

A mini-facelift corrects signs of aging in the area that spans from the cheeks to the jaw line. This procedure is often marketed as a “one-hour facelift” or as a special branded facelift. For the right patient, the mini-lift is a good choice to correct problems like prominent nasolabial folds and sagging cheeks. Who can benefit from a mini-lift?Patients who have less significant signs of aging are good candidates for the mini-procedure. If you have more complex or severe signs of aging, you will need a more thorough solution. Make sure the operation fits your needs before proceeding with any facelift. Good candidates for facial plastic surgery are healthy, non-smokers with realistic expectations. Tell Dr. Rubinstein if you have high blood pressure, blood clotting problems or a tendency to form prominent scars. How is a Mini Facelift Different than a Traditional Facelift?A mini-facelift will improve your face from under the eyes to the jawline. The mini-facelift will not significantly improve your neck, as a full facelift can. If you have a problem that is limited to the cheeks and above the jawline, you may be a good candidate for a mini-facelift. However, most patients have issues above and below the jawline and will require a full facelift for the best results. A full facelift provides a significant improvement throughout the face and neck. Results will also last longer with the full facelift. The folds that run from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth will be flatter, as will the lines that travel from the corners of your mouth to your chin. Your cheeks may also be tighter and fuller. Your neck will be tighter and smoother with the excess hanging skin removed. The jowls will be firm and your jawline will be tighter and better defined. How is the Mini-Lift Performed?A mini-facelift will use many of the same techniques involved with the full facelift. Dr. Rubinstein may use a tool called an endoscope to view the underlying facial tissues through limited incisions, shorter than those of the full facelift. The operation is typically done under local anesthesia and sedation, so a breathing tube is not required and you will be able to return home much sooner once surgery is complete. Incisions will be placed in front of the ear or along the hairline, following natural contours of your skin to ensure scars are inconspicuous. Skin is lifted and trimmed and underlying tissues are shaped to produce a more youthful appearance. Stitches are placed to fixate the layers of tissue close your incisions. What to Expect After Your Mini FaceliftRecovery time is typically shorter with the mini-lift, but it may take 1-2 weeks before you can return to your normal routine. After surgery, a loosely wrapped bandage will be applied and you will likely experience some numbness, puffiness and minor bruising. You will be instructed to keep your head elevated and relax during recovery. Medications can help you manage discomfort during this time. Makeup can usually be applied within a week. Be careful of the hype. If you are a better candidate for a full facelift, a mini-lift will not provide the results you expect. But if you have a "mini-problem," this procedure can be very satisfying. Contact our office for more information.
