Zerona laser treatment is an alternative to surgical body slimming techniques like liposuction. It’s a new, non-invasive method of fat reduction that can take inches off your waistline or thighs in a series of quick treatments. No pain, no downtime, no surgery, no recovery. Dr. Rubinstein was the first plastic surgeon in Miami to offer Zerona treatments to his patients.
Who can benefit from Zerona laser treatment?
Any area of the body can be treated with Zerona. If you have excess fat in areas such as the thighs, tummy, back, upper arms, or flanks, you may be a good candidate for Zerona. Plastic surgeons have also used Zerona before and after liposuction. The most significant benefit is being non-invasive; if you’re not willing to undergo liposuction or you don’t have the time for cosmetic surgery, a procedure like this is ideal.
What is the procedure like?
The laser has five heads on it (it's a big squid-looking device) so you can treat multiple areas simultaneously. You lie beneath it and the energy causes a chemical reaction in the fat cells causing the fat from inside the cell to go outside the cell through a small pore that opens. Your body is able to then remove the fat through a natural process. Most people want to treat both the front and the back, so total treatment time is an average of 45 minutes. The process is comfortable and the laser actually stimulates your body’s natural endorphins. A series of six treatments is required.
Are there possible side effects with Zerona?
Research is still being done on Zerona, but so far there are no documented side effects. However, this treatment modality is relatively new, so if you’re concerned about possible complications, make sure you discuss treatment safety with Dr. Rubinstein.
What can I expect after treatment?
Because you want the fat to metabolize as effectively as possible, before and after your Zerona treatment you’ll need to exercise, stay hydrated and abstain from alcohol to get the most satisfying results. Post procedure checkups will include measurement of the treated areas to evaluate your results. In studies of Zerona, patients lost an average of more than 3 inches of circumference from the waist, hips and thighs. In Dr. Rubinstein's experience patients have lost between 4-5 inches on average.
