Acoustic Wave Therapy in Miami, FL

Are you embarrassed by cellulite or sagging skin? Do you wish you could improve the look of your skin texture without undergoing invasive procedures? Board-certified plastic surgeon Adam J. Rubinstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., is proud to offer Acoustic Wave Therapy to the residents of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and South Florida at his Aventura office.

What is Acoustic Wave Therapy?

Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) is the first procedure of its kind to reduce fat and reduce cellulite with no side discomfort and no side effects. AWT technology was developed in the 1990s to help athletes by stimulating blood flow and decreasing muscle tenseness. AWT creates vibrations that penetrate just below the surface of the skin. After finding success with patients suffering from inflammation, physical therapists noticed that AWT led to an unexpected result: firm skin without cellulite. Now a cosmetic procedure, AWT is typically used in the upper arm, abdomen, thigh, and buttocks region to treat cellulite and/or sagging skin. Our acoustic wave therapy expert will administer AWT to firm skin, reduce cellulite, and boost collagen production where desired.

How Does Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) Work?

In the simplest terms, AWT works by sending acoustic waves into the skin, which relax connective tissues and firm the outer skin layer by improving circulation and increasing collagen production. To truly understand the impact AWT can have on the skin, you should first understand cellulite. Cellulite is caused by fibrous septae and fat protrusion. The acoustic waves pass into the skin and break down the fibrous septae- resulting in a smoother skin surface. AWT helps decrease the other cause of cellulite, fat protrusion, by stimulating dermal growth (thickening the skin).

Who Is a Candidate for Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT)?

Because AWT is non-invasive, pain-free and involves no recovery period, anyone hoping to achieve firmer skin is a strong candidate. Often times, if an individual has additional concerns, Dr. Rubinstein will recommend AWT coupled with additional body contouring procedures for optimal results.

What is the Recommended Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) Treatment Program?

Depending on the extent of the treatable areas, AWT is customized to the patient dependent on what stage of cellulitis is presented. There are 3 stages of cellulite and treatment for each stage will vary.   This can mean two-three weekly visits for 4-6 weeks.  Dr. Rubinstein works with each patient to recommend a treatment schedule both are comfortable with long-term. Sessions are typically under an hour, and no preparation or aftercare is needed. Once desired results are achieved, your therapist will recommend a maintenance AWT program customized for each patient.

What Results Can I Expect from Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT)?

Results for patients include the diminished appearance of cellulite and firmer skin. Many patients observe improved skin texture and tone. Results typically last six months to a year with maintenance AWT treatments.

How Much Does Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) Cost?

Because AWT is a cosmetic procedure, it is unlikely that medical insurance will cover any of the costs for treatment. After seeing many people frustrated by their lack of financial options for important cosmetic procedures, Dr. Rubinstein wanted to help by offering financing options for all of his patients. Now you can kiss cellulite goodbye! Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) is a pain-free, fast way to achieve the results you’ve always wanted.
