Board-certified plastic surgeon Adam J. Rubinstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., performs rhinoplasty for residents of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and South Florida.
Rhinoplasty, better known as a “nose job,” is used to alter the shape of the nose and is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedure. Rhinoplasty can be used to:
- Increase or decrease the size of a person’s nose
- Alter the angle
- Make the nostrils narrower
- Adjust the size of the bridge or nose tip
- Change the angle between the upper lip and nose
Rhinoplasty can also be used to repair birth defects or disfigurement resulting from traumatic facial injuries. In some cases, the procedure can also be used to resolve breathing issues. Many rhinoplasty surgeries are done in as little as one to two hours. During the surgery, the nose is separated from its supportive cartilage and bone, which is then reshaped into the desired appearance. After this step is finished, the skin of the nose is put back into place over the new structure. Stents will be used to ensure that the nose keeps its new shape. Discomfort, bruising, and swelling are likely, but this will fade quickly. In just a few weeks, evidence of the surgery will not be noticeable. Vigorous physical activity must be avoided for two to three weeks. Please view these rhinoplasty before and after pictures to see the results that some of Dr. Rubinstein’s patients have enjoyed.
