However, some patients may have the surgery performed in a hospital and/or be required to stay in the hospital overnight for observation. For the procedure itself, general anesthesia or local anesthesia with numbing can be used on the patient. The patient will not feel any pain during the procedure. During the thigh lift procedure, Dr. Rubinstein will make an incision along the thigh and remove excess fat and skin. Sometimes, Dr. Rubinstein may recommend using liposuction to remove additional fat from the area. Next, he will suture the incision site. The incision sites will be dressed with bandages. The entire procedure typically takes no longer than four hours and results are visible immediately.
