Collagen Induction Therapy in Miami, FL

If fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores or pigmentation irregularities on your skin are bothering you, collagen induction therapy can help. Board-certified plastic surgeon Adam J. Rubinstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., offers this simple, relatively painless treatment to residents of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and South Florida at his Aventura practice. Dr. Rubinstein uses the Rejuvapen®  instrument for collagen induction therapy, which can reduce these unsightly skin concerns in just a few weeks.

What is Collagen Induction Therapy?

Collagen induction therapy is an innovative new skin rejuvenation treatment designed to minimize fine lines, wrinkles, and scars on the face and body. This minimally invasive treatment, also known as “micro-needling,” creates tiny pinprick wounds on the face by using tiny needles on a medical roller and moving it over the skin. This procedure stimulates the skin to produce collagen, which is the basis of firm, smooth skin. The needles used are microscopic so you should feel a little discomfort, but a topical anesthetic can be used to relieve any discomfort. The wound healing process caused by the pinpricks cause the body to generate new collagen and elastin, which thicken and smooth out the skin.

Am I a Candidate for Collagen Induction Therapy?

Collagen induction therapy is suitable for all skin types.  If you have any of the following skin issues, collagen induction therapy may be right for you:
  • Stretch marks
  • Large pores
  • Surgical and acne scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

Before Collagen Induction Therapy

Before you undergo any cosmetic treatment, it is important to have a consultation with Dr. Rubinstein to ensure you are suitable for treatment. This will be your opportunity to ask any questions you have about the procedure and for Dr. Rubinstein to explain the pros and cons.

During The Procedure

Before the collagen induction therapy, a topical anesthetic is usually applied to minimize any discomfort. Then the device is placed onto the skin to create evenly spaced puncture wounds. The length of the needles on the pen will vary depending on how deep into the skin the needles need to penetrate. In general, the more dramatic results you want, the deeper the needles will penetrate. Treatment can take anywhere between 45 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. Recovery from Your Procedure

After collagen induction treatment, your skin will be slightly pink. You might have some mild bleeding and bruising, swelling depending on the length of the needle used during your treatment. The downtime with this treatment is very short. You should have resumed all of your normal activities within 24 to 72 hours.  You can take an over-the-counter pain medication to ease any discomfort. (I would not suggest any medication is needed since 99% of the time it is not) A series of two to five treatments is usually recommended to achieve maximum results.  Because the benefits come from stimulating your body’s own production of collagen, one begins to see the effects of treatment in 90 days and will continue to build collagen and stimulate results for up to 1 year post treatment.  The first results should be visible after one treatment within a week, however. Your skin will be very sensitive, and you must be careful to protect it from the sun.

How Much Does Collagen Induction Therapy Cost?

Most health insurance providers will not provide coverage for the costs of collagen induction therapy. To make your procedure more affordable, Dr. Rubinstein proudly offers financing options for all of his patients. His office also accepts cash, personal checks, and credit cards. If you are not satisfied with how you look, it might be appropriate for you to consider getting collagen induction therapy.
