Body Lift in Miami, FL

A body lift can help improve the overall tone and shape of the whole or a section of the body after massive weight loss. Board-certified plastic surgeon Adam J. Rubinstein, M.D., F.A.C.S., is proud to offer body lift procedures to the residents of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and South Florida at his Aventura office.

What is a Body Lift?

A body lift is a surgical procedure or series of surgical procedures that can improve sagging skin, cellulite, and loose muscular tissue. The procedure is especially beneficial for candidates who have undergone major weight loss.

What is the Body Lift Procedure Like?

The body lift procedure is different for everyone, but the overall similarities are apparent. All body lifts are performed under general anesthesia and with additional numbing for the areas to be treated. Dr. Rubinstein will begin the actual surgical procedure by making an incision in the body area to be treated. The skin is then pulled tight past the incision point, and the extra fat and tissue are removed. Dr. Rubinstein will then close the incision with deep sutures to support the underlying tissue. A body lift can be a single procedure or a combination of the following procedures, depending on the nature of a patient’s concerns.
  • Upper Body Lift: The upper body lift procedure is one or a series of procedures targeting areas of concern in the upper body. Possible sites for lift procedures include the arms, breasts, and upper back. The total upper body lift can be combined with breast augmentation, breast reduction, the back lift or other procedures for optimal contouring results.
  • Lower Body Lift: If a candidate has excess skin below the waist, a doctor may recommend the lower body lift. A lower body lift can target the buttocks, thighs, hips, and abdomen and is often the first procedure of total body contouring. This may involve a combination of procedures such as a tummy tuck and thigh lift. Conversely, a lower body lift may be done with one, larger incision. For this procedure, an incision is made around the circumference of the waist to correct the areas below the incision. Many patients observe full results within three months.
  • Posterior Body Lift: A posterior body lift targets the lower back, buttocks, and thighs. The procedure can also be used to correct excess skin or flaps left following a tummy tuck procedure. The incision for a posterior body lift is located along the band line of the underwear on the back. Most patients observe final results of this procedure within three months.
  • Back Lift: A back lift can result in a slimmer upper back and improved waist contour. The back body lift procedure involves an incision under the band of a bra. The upper back is pulled tight, excess skin and fat are removed, and the incision is sutured and bandaged. Most patients return to work after seven days following the procedure and return to all physical activity within one month.

What Can I Expect Following a Body Lift Procedure?

The results of the body lift procedure are visible immediately, but full results can take up to one year. Body lift patients typically need to stay overnight for observation. Upon returning home, body lift patients must wear supportive garments for the recommended duration of time depending on the procedure(s). Some patients experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Dr. Rubinstein will manage any discomfort with prescribed medication as necessary for each patient. Recovery time is different for everyone, and many patients return to work within a few weeks.

Who is a Strong Candidate for a Body Lift?

Individuals with excess sagging skin, stretch marks, and undesirable body contours are candidates for the body lift procedures. Many patients site aging, sun damage, pregnancy, and major weight fluctuations as the cause of skin or body irregularities. Individuals with a significant amount of fat may be candidates for liposuction rather than a body lift, depending on the elasticity of the skin.

How Much Does a Body Lift Cost in Miami, FL?

The body lift procedure can be different for many individuals. Depending on the intensity of the procedure(s), the cost varies. Most insurance companies will not cover cosmetic procedures such as a body lift, but in certain cases, the surgery is considered medically necessary. To make payment more reasonable for everyone, Dr. Rubinstein developed a financing program for all of his patients. Do you want to reshape your body and see immediate results?
